Can anyone mention a book that has actually not allowed a player to gamble because they felt that the player had an addiction.

Being with a small place it is easier to "sit on a guy".Don't get me wrong,it is also a good business descion.I would rather win 50$ a week from a guy for the rest of his life than clean him out in one week.Plus I don't want to **** up someone's life.Have seen it happen too many times and don't want to be a part of it.

Great Topic and classy response Judge...

I would love to hear if any offshore sports book cut someone off because gambling was ruining that person's life...

Maybe a sports book or local bookie can chime in?

Judge this is a great gesture...But how would you go about this, especially being offshore?

JM,my situation is a little different.Pretty much know my customers. You can tell when someone is getting in over their heads or chasing.I have refused to take bets from certain people. They usually get pissed off and then thank me latter.BTW,there is no way a big shop could do this and would not expect them to do so.It would be impossible to keep up on all their customers.Plus they take post up so as long as the money keeps coming in I guess they have to assume that the person is alright. It is always a very difficult call.Dante,I have some guys that I know have virtually un limited resources.Them dropping 10g,is like me losing a c-note.Everything is relative. Therefore it helps to know who you are dealing with.

While I agree that it would be helpful to a player with an addiction it is also not realistic.

How is the book supposed to know he has an addiction? While $50 a bet might be harmful to one player.. it means nothing to another..

Also-
I mean get real if it is on the internet- he will just switch to the next book if it is a serious problem.

I would just mail gambling addiction info to their house and hope the spouse gets it. Their addiction won't last much longer after that. AT least the way I have heard ya'll talk about marriage.
